Ronald Reagan on Lawn Care

In 1970 Ronald Reagan ran for his second term as governor of California. His Democratic opponent was the former speaker of the state assembly, Jesse "Big Daddy" Unruh, a rotund man with a fondness for big cigars.

Unruh criticized Reagan for having rich friends (sound familiar?). To try to dramatize his point, Unruh conducted a photo op in front of the home of one of Reagan's wealthy supporters.

When Gov. Reagan was asked about this, he said, "It used to be that the worst thing you could get on your lawn was crab grass!"
